Gratu goes to TikTok

· Jan 23, 2026

This week I started posting TikTok slideshows for Gratu.

The format is simple: 5-slide photo carousels. Emotional hook on slide 1, story in the middle, app screenshots and CTA at the end. I’m posting 2-3 times per day on both TikTok and Instagram Reels.

Two content types so far. Story slideshows that promote the app directly, and value listicles that grow followers. The direct promos drive downloads. The listicles build an audience that might convert later.

I also posted to r/iOSapps on Reddit. Different vibe, more technical crowd, but worth testing.

Volume first

The goal right now is volume. Find what hooks work, then double down.

I’m following a playbook from founders who cracked this channel. One guy needed 40+ posts before he found his winning format. So I’m not expecting results yet. The first few weeks are just data collection.

Built a content backlog in Notion to stay consistent. Hooks, scripts, shot lists. Enough to keep posting daily without having to think too hard each morning.

The bet

TikTok is weird for apps. Most successful examples I’ve seen are consumer apps with strong emotional hooks. Gratitude journaling fits that profile. It’s personal, it’s visual, and there’s a clear before/after story to tell.

The downside is discoverability. TikTok’s algorithm is unpredictable. You can post 50 videos that get 200 views each, then one randomly hits 100k. The only way to find out what works is to keep posting.

So that’s the plan. Show up daily. Watch the numbers. Adjust.

If you want to follow the experiment, Gratu is on the App Store.
